Background
County Wills & Probate was one of the very first independent Will Writing
companies starting in Reading way back in 1989 and the basic formula
of a fixed fee and a home visit was successful from the very beginning.
Shortly thereafter, we established a second office in Manchester
meaning that County Wills & Probate could now offer a service anywhere in
England and Wales.
With minimal advertising budgets, it was important to rely on
personal recommendation and this has worked so well; that all
new business now comes from either the friends and relatives of
existing clients or from introductions from people in the Financial
Services industry.
We have always been fiercely independent and focused on the core
business of writing Wills and Lasting Power of Attorneys.
Over the years we have been involved with the Society of Will
Writers and to a lesser degree, the Institute of Professional
Will Writers.
Past Acquisitions
We have always been keen to develop and expand and over the years
we have taken over many other will writing businesses.

In
1998, we took over The Will Company (based in Kent) and in 2000,
WillWriting Systems - South East (based in Berkshire).

In
1998, we acquired Willsecure (Somerset) and
in 1999, Home Will Services (North of England).

In
2000, it was Capital Wills (Croydon) and in 2001, Crown Wills
(also Berkshire) both of which have retained their trading identities.

North
East Wills (Middlesborough) followed in 2005 with Legacy Wise
(Manchester) in 2008.
We have just agreed a joint venture with Jamieson Reed (Wills &
Trusts) Limited.
Over this period, we have also declined to proceed with offers from
8 other businesses where the vendors were over optimistic on their
valuations or we had concerns with their business models.

Administration
Although offering a very personal service to a large number of
clients, we have always kept our business deliberately small and
efficient.
A critical explanation for this ability has been our highly sophisticated
and thoroughly tested computer database which automates the majority
of the administration.
Our administration centre is based in Warrington and Kathryn Parr
runs the office for us.
We have a team of Consultants spread around the country who undertake
all the client visits.
We now have over 30,000 clients who all receive an on-going update
and information service.
